About Lagoon Park Golf Course
Lagoon Park is an 18-hole public golf course located in the heart of Montgomery, Alabama.
The Lagoon Park Golf Course was designed by Charles Graves of Atlanta, Ga., and was built in a scenic, parkland area that was originally a swamp in 1978. The result is a golf course steeped in southern charm with fairways lined with 100-year oaks, towering pine trees, flowering dogwoods, and California raindrop trees. In the spring, the natural vegetation takes center stage as the course comes alive with hundreds of blooming azaleas and flowering trees lining the beautifully manicured paths.
The 72-par Lagoon Park Golf Course measures 6,800 yards from the back tees making walking the course a popular playing option. The Tif Dwarf Bermuda grass fairways feature numerous doglegs with lots of trees making ball placement and course management key on this course. The 550-yard, Par 5, hole 15 offers a supreme challenge with a double dogleg arching to the left and bending back to the right before reaching the green. Big hitters will be tempted to drive the ball over the 150-foot tall pine trees guarding the first dogleg, but it will require a high, towering drive that must carry at least 270 yards from the back tee. Once achieved, the reward will be the chance to reach the green in two, for a rare eagle.

Pace of Play – Lagon Park Values Your Time
The pace of play varies at every course you play and the actual time it takes to play varies for many reasons – i.e. length of course, the design/layout, number of golfers in your group, skill levels of your group etc. Because each player has different expectations regarding the pace of play, we want to set the expectations for every golfer who plays at Lagoon Park which is why we are launching the Troon Values Your Time program. Our PGA Golf Professionals have established a reasonable and enjoyable time par of 4 hours and 15 to play Lagoon Park which gives you plenty of time to play your round at Lagoon Park.
Here are tips to keep your pace of play on par while playing:
- Play Ready Golf (tee to green): When a player is at their ball or on the tee box and is ready to play, they should play. Take no more than 45 seconds to hit your shot.
- Be cart smart: Drop off your partner and drive to your ball. When you leave the cart, take three clubs, not one. Park behind greens.
- Use rules with discretion: Take no more than three minutes to look for balls and take relief.
- Keep Moving: Proceed quickly to your ball and be ready when it’s your turn to hit.
- See it, read it, hole it: While others are putting, prepare for your putt. Go to the next tee.
- Be accountable: Recognize that slow play isn’t just other players’ fault.
